Managing Covid-19

Managing Covid-19  I'm sure by now we have all read post and watched videos on how different people are managing their feelings and thoughts during this pandemic. I personally take the time to read watch what I can because it is very helpful and interesting to see the different ways we all are managing. I feel as though you can never have enough tips to draw from and try. We are almost two months into the stay at home order and honestly I have a certain level of gratitude and content mixed with irritation and annoyance. Mainly because of the things that are happening in my personal life that are making this whole situation surprisingly bearable. I'll only name one because as a New Yorker (or not)  ya'll wont even need to hear the rest you will simply get it. So in December I moved to my very own apartment! Renting rooms for the past 8 years here and living in almost all of the boroughs has been a roller coaster clocking 7 moves in my first three years. I definitely have...

I don't do enough posting in the moment and I am really trying to work on reporting back to the blog. And I want to go on record about the event I am currently planning and everything I am feeing right now. Femme Diaries is going to be a name and event that is going to go so much further than what we are imagining right now. Tiff and Shaunie I feel like we are in for one hell of a ride. And it is crazy random and dope that we are the ones chosen to get our individual messages out together. I can not wait to see what is in store and what we can manifest for each other. When I created the gmail account I already saw it happening. NYC please save the date of October 4th we are planning something so crazy dope. Please believe that you will have another opportunity because something is telling me that this is the first of many Femme Diaries. Things happen for you when you follow her heart. Each and everyone of us has multiple gifts planted in them but it is necessary for you to do the s...

Fun Work Weekend

Image
So a couple of weekends ago I went to Middlebury VT with my ace doing a pop-up for natural hair. Christal Brown originally got her hair done at the salon Kerlisha and I worked at together and she asked if we would be interested in coming and doing hair for the students of color here. We ended up doing a lot of hair for the black children that are adpopted as well as the residents and students at Middlebury College. The program covers the cost of travel and lodging and they ask that we lower our pricing which we obviously had no problem doing considering they brought us here. We had quite the experience here. Clearly a change of pace and culture but it is something that we will do again. They really don't have the resources here to get their hair done and get the care that it needs so having us come for a couple days was amazing for them. It was also a dry run for K and C Natural Pop Up without us losing out on money. We were able to get a feel of what it would be like being on the ...

Is This Happening ?!

Oh snap day two! I already am making progress ya'll lol. Still havent figured out the frequency yet but we will take this one day at a time. The majority of my day was spent with my business partner trying to figure out a few things. I have started a hair business with someone I used to be collegues with. We both were working at a natural hair salon and that space closed and we were kinda forced to start our own salon :) I am extremely lucky because that collegue is my best friend! We definitely get on each others nerves but the whole process and journey has been quite interesting. Just picture it.... there you are just living your life making plans and taking care of business when your boss/shop owner says "shop is closing I'm moving back to my apartment to do hair and that is happening in a week" ...right? imagine our surprise. Honeslty Kerlisha and I wanted to go out and do our own thing anyways but it was something we thought we were months even years away from do...

So let's try this again...

I swear I have been "starting my blog" for 7 years now. I know I am not the only one that  makes solid attempts to get more serious about posting on a more consistent basis. It has been very hard for me to keep it up and what I find even more interesting is that is how I got started, I would write articles and my management would get them placed on sites etc. smh Well my attempt to get started and more consistent is to take the some of the formality out of every single post. What I struggle with the most is I want people to have different content on each platform. And honestly that is work! In addition to my work work lol But as time is moving along I am finding my way. So at this point all I can do is be honest and open about this journey. Here you will find more of my thoughts on what is happening in my world along tips and rants that you can identity with. All questions and comments are welcomed. Thank you in advance for your patience. I promise it will be good. (inser...
